Policies

General Rules

Dance bags are required. Please label all dance shoes supplies.
Check your child’s dance bag after each class. IMPORTANT information is often sent home in them.
Wear cover-ups or regular clothes to and from class.
Cell phones will not be allowed and if used during class time it will be taken and placed in the office until class is over.
Food and drinks are not allowed to be consumed between and during classes.
Candy and gum are not allowed to be brought into the studio.
Everyone must meet mandatory practices, NO EXCEPTIONS ALLOWED.
Classes are not to be interrupted and ONLY participating students are allowed in the classroom.
Drop off's arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to your first class.
Pick up children promptly after class. There will be a $20.00 fee will be charged after 15 minutes.

Payments

Payments are due on the 1st of each month and no later than the 20th of the month. A $20.00 late charge will be added to accounts, which are not paid in full by the 20th of the month. A $35.00 charge will be added to all NSF checks. If any account becomes two (2) months behind, your child will not be allowed in classes, until all fees, including late fees are paid. Please Note: Tuition is to be made on a separate check from all other payments.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend class regularly. Please make every effort to attend especially from January thru June. Our attendance policy is as follows:

3 Unexcused Absences
The student will be excluded from all or parts of their routines.

7 Or More Dance Classed Missed
Student will be denied credit for the year and the privilege of performing in the revue. IF A STUDENT IS ABSENT OR NEEDS TO SIT IN ON A CLASS AND NOT DANCE, A DOCTOR'S EXCUSE IS REQUIRED AND MUST BE PROVIDED. Roll will be taken and this policy will be enforced. If a student wishes to discontinue his or her lessons, parents must inform Scott Academy of Dance IMMEDIATELY, otherwise payment will continue to be charged and will be expected.

Dress Code

Preschool, Kindergarten and Level I
Leotard with stockings, Taps, Ballet Shoes with Grips
Tap shoes need elastic sewn in a circle through the loops (to replace ribbons).

Level II on up
Wear: Leotard with stockings (Pink for Ballet)
Shoes: Lace up Taps, Leo or Capezio brands ONLY, (no high heels), Pink Ballets, Slip on Jazz Shoes.
Ballet Skirts may be worn for Ballet ONLY.
Jazz pants or shorts for Tap and Jazz ONLY.
Hair should be neatly pulled up (preferrably in a bun or ponytail).

Class Visitation By Parents

The week of November 14, 2011 is set aside for you to visit your child's class, to observe their participation and to meet their teachers.

Performance

Practice will be at the Heymann Performing Arts Center on Thursday, June 14, 2012. Dress Rehearsal, awards practice and revue will be Friday, June 15, 2012. Updated information will follow.

Costumes

Costumes are ordered during the Christmas Holiday break and are usually received during April. ALL Costume moneies are due by November 31st. It is recommended that you pay a portion on costume and revue every month to avoid a large payment at one time.
